Product Overview
This Powerwall battery delivers 51.2V nominal voltage with 314Ah rated capacity, storing 16076 watt hours of clean energy. Built with LiFePO4 chemistry and an integrated Battery Management System, it provides the safest lithium technology for residential and commercial solar storage. The slim wall mounted design measures 750mm wide, 112mm deep, and 1289mm high, weighing 148 kilograms. With support for multiple parallel connections, this battery scales easily from 16kWh to over 100kWh for larger energy needs.
Core Technical Specifications
Nominal voltage is 51.2V with 314Ah rated capacity and total energy of 16076Wh. Internal resistance is ≤30 milliohms. Round trip efficiency reaches 98 percent. Self discharge is less than 3 percent per month. The battery uses 16 cells in series with one parallel string (16S1P). Terminal type is CHVJT01. Housing is SPCC steel with IP32 protection, suitable for indoor installation. Communication interfaces include CAN and RS485 for seamless integration with inverters and monitoring systems.
Discharge Performance
Continuous discharge current is 200 amps, capable of powering a whole home during peak usage. Pulse discharge current reaches 250 amps for less than 0.5 seconds, handling surge loads from air conditioners, well pumps, and refrigerators. BMS discharge cut off voltage is 40V with reconnect at 43.2V. Recommended voltage disconnect is also 40V. Short circuit protection activates within 300 to 800 microseconds.
Charge Parameters
Charging uses the CC CV method with charge voltage range of 57.6V to 58.4V. Recommended float voltage at 100 percent state of charge is 53.2V to 53.6V. The recommended charge current is 175 amps for optimal cycle life, while the maximum charge current reaches 200 amps for faster charging. BMS charge cut off voltage is set to 58.4V.
Cycle Life and Longevity
Rated for more than 6000 cycles at 100 percent depth of discharge while retaining over 80 percent of original capacity, tested at 25°C with 0.5C charge and discharge rates. For a home that cycles the battery once daily, this provides over 16 years of service life before reaching 80 percent state of health. The long cycle life makes this Powerwall an excellent investment for net zero homes and off grid systems.
Temperature Range
Discharge temperature range is -20°C to 60°C, allowing operation in garages or utility rooms with moderate climate control. Charge temperature range is 0°C to 55°C. Storage temperature range is -10°C to 35°C. BMS high temperature cut off is set to 65°C. For installations in freezing climates, the battery requires a heated space or optional heating add on.
Communication and Monitoring
CAN and RS485 ports enable direct communication with leading hybrid inverters from brands such as Victron, Growatt, Deye, Sofar, Luxpower, and others. Real time data includes voltage, current, temperature, state of charge, cell voltages, cycle count, and fault alerts. This allows the inverter to optimize charging and discharging based on battery status, improving overall system efficiency.
Scalability with Parallel Connection
Multiple Powerwall units can be connected in parallel to increase total storage capacity. For example, two units provide 628Ah (32kWh), four units provide 1256Ah (64kWh), and so on. The BMS supports parallel communication, ensuring balanced charging and discharging across all units. Use identical cable lengths and follow the manufacturer’s parallel wiring diagram for best results.
Applications
This 51.2V 314Ah Powerwall is designed for residential solar self consumption, storing excess solar energy during the day for use at night. It also serves as backup power during grid outages, keeping critical loads running. For off grid homes, it pairs with solar arrays and backup generators for year round power. Commercial applications include small businesses, farms, telecom towers, and remote monitoring stations where reliable energy storage is essential.
Installation Recommendations
Mount the Powerwall on a solid wall capable of supporting 148 kilograms. The slim 112mm depth allows installation in hallways, garages, or utility rooms with minimal space intrusion. The IP32 protection rating makes it suitable for indoor use but not for outdoor exposure to rain or dust. Ensure adequate clearance around the unit for ventilation and cable access. Use properly sized DC cables rated for 200A continuous current with the CHVJT01 terminal type. Connect the communication cables to the inverter for full system integration.
User Benefits versus Lead Acid
A lead acid bank with comparable usable capacity would need 628Ah nominal because only 50 percent is usable. That lead acid bank would weigh over 300 kilograms and occupy much more floor space. Lead acid lasts 500 cycles; this Powerwall lasts 6000 cycles. Lead acid requires monthly watering and terminal cleaning; this battery is maintenance free. Over a 15 year period, one Powerwall replaces 10 to 12 lead acid banks, saving thousands of dollars and eliminating constant labor.
BMS Protection Features
The internal Battery Management System monitors every cell continuously. Overcharge protection stops charging at 58.4V. Over discharge protection cuts off output at 40V. Over current protection limits both charge and discharge to safe levels. Short circuit protection responds in microseconds. Temperature protection disconnects at 65°C or blocks charging below 0°C. Cell balancing equalizes all 16 series cells during charging to maximize capacity and extend life.
