EC-C5M — Utility-Scale Turnkey BESS in a Standard 20ft Container
Every megawatt-hour of grid storage competes on three numbers: capital cost per kWh, cycle life, and deployment speed. The EC-C5M is engineered to win on all three. A 20-foot container holds 5MWh of LiFePO4 energy behind a 2.5MW PCS, pre-assembled and pre-tested at our factory, so your project team spends days - not months - on site.
This is not a battery in a box. It is a complete power plant module: DC storage, AC conversion, cooling, fire protection, auxiliary power, metering and a plant controller that speaks to your SCADA in the protocols your grid expects.
| Parameter | Data |
|---|---|
| Rated power / energy | 2.5 MW / 5 MWh |
| Cell platform | 314 Ah LiFePO4 prismatic, 1P416S racks |
| Cooling | Liquid cooling, cell delta ≤ 3 deg C |
| Round-trip efficiency | ≥ 95% |
| Design life | 8000 cycles / 20+ years |
| Footprint | 6058 x 2438 x 2896 mm, ~28 t |
The container is divided into three compartments. The battery room occupies two thirds of the length with six liquid-cooled racks, front-facing for service. The PCS room holds the 2.5MW power conversion system, auxiliary transformer and switchgear. The third compartment houses the plant controller, fire panel and HVAC. Cable trays run in a sealed channel so the battery room never needs to be entered during normal operation.
Frequency regulation. The controller responds to AGC signals within 100 ms, delivering the fast ramping that thermal plants cannot match. Renewable firming. Paired with a solar or wind farm, the unit absorbs ramp spikes and releases stored energy when generation dips, flattening the plant output curve. Peak shaving. At C&I substations it trims demand peaks and defers transformer upgrades. Black start. With its auxiliary power system, the container can crank a local generator to restore the network after a collapse.
Protection follows a detect-isolate-extinguish sequence. Gas sensors and smoke detectors report to the fire panel, which first confirms the event, then isolates the affected rack electrically, releases aerosol suppressant, and opens the emergency ventilation dampers to prevent pressure buildup. The enclosure is IP55 with a C5 corrosion option for coastal sites, and the structure is certified for seismic zone 4.
Week 0-2: your project data is reviewed; our engineers issue the single-line diagram, layout and grid-compliance checklist. Week 3-10: manufacturing with weekly photo reports; optional factory witness test. Week 11: shipment as a single 20ft unit. Week 12-13: on-site placement, cable connection and commissioning by our engineers or under remote guidance. Week 14: acceptance test and handover with training.
Each project is assigned a dedicated engineer from order to handover. Deliverables include the design package, factory test certificates (CE, TUV, UN38.3, IEC 62619), O&M manual and a five-year warranty with optional extension. Spare parts kits are held locally in Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Every container passes seven quality gates before leaving the factory: incoming cell grading, module welding inspection, rack assembly torque audit, liquid cooling loop pressure test, BMS functional test, full-power charge-discharge cycle, and a 72-hour continuous aging run with data logging. Customers may witness the full-power test either on site or via live video link, and receive the complete test report with the shipment.
Can containers be paralleled for larger plants? Yes, up to 20 units can operate in parallel through the plant controller, forming a 50MW / 100MWh block. What is the minimum project size you support? We supply from a single container upward. How is performance validated after installation? A joint acceptance test compares measured round-trip efficiency and response time against the datasheet. Do you finance projects? We cooperate with financing partners in selected markets; ask our sales team for details. What training is included? A two-day operator training program, delivered online or at your site.
